Illinois Expands Gun Background Checks

Governor Pat Quinn signed a measure Sunday expanding background checks to include all gun purchases. The measure also covers all firearms purchases in Illinois. Quinn says the law  closes a loophole that had exempted gun sales between private parties. The new law, which takes effect the first of the year, requires all gun owners to report any stolen or lost firearms to the police within 72 hours.
