After Texting Alleged Threat Teen Kills Self

A 17-year-old central Missouri boy is dead, having shot and killed himself as authorities tried to take him into custody for allegedly sending a text threatening school violence.  KTVI-TV reports Southern Boone County School district officials were notified of a threatening text message Monday night, saying something dramatic and threatening would happen at school including “loss of life” prompting them to cancel classes for Tuesday.  After searching the schools for explosives, officers went to the home of the teen believed to have sent the alleged text in the early hours of Tuesday morning.  When the boy asked if he may get dressed before going with the police, he shot himself in the chest with a handgun.
